Judge says gal who stole cop father’s service pistol so thug boyfriend could sell it has to stay away from dad

The daughter of a veteran state trooper was ordered by a Queens judge to stay away from her father after she allegedly stole his service weapon and left it in an abandoned house for her criminal boyfriend so he could sell it.

Keala Augustine was held on $25,000 bond after admitting to cops that on July 21 she “found the instructions” to her father, Brian’s safe, pawned a diamond ring and diamond earrings at a local pawn shop and placed his .45 caliber pistol in her purse, authorities said.

“Shamel tells her to hide [the gun] in an abandoned house on and they go to the second floor of the house and put it in the top of the toilet,” according to court documents.

Augustine was charged with two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to Queens DA Richard Brown.

Prosecutors said at her arraignment that she has “psychological and substance abuse issues” which her attorney, Kenneth Dean, denies.

The judge issued her a limited order of protection to stay away from her pops.

The 19-year-old John Jay College sophomore’s boyfriend, Shamel Bryant, 24, has prior arrests for felony robbery, drugs and reckless endangerment, cops said.

Augustine allegedly told cops that Bryant left her side for a “long time” and when she went back to the abandoned house earlier the next morning, the gun was gone.

She then allegedly reported a false home invasion to 911 who immediately went to the home and encountered her half-asleep dad at the door, unbeknownst to his missing weapon or the emergency call.

Cops found the instructors to the safe in her bra and a receipt from a pawn shop on South Conduit Avenue with her signature for the jewelry.

If convicted, Augustine faces up to 4 years in prison.

Her dad is under investigation by the State Police over the matter.

The gun has yet to be retrieved.
