Paddling for more PR: Will pols make a splash?

The Issue: Gov. Cuomo and Mayor Bloomberg’s recent raft race, meant to promote tourism upstate.

***

This one was a keeper (“All Dork, Little Action,” July 23).

The two-day event cost New York taxpayers “about” — until it is audited — $175,000.

But Gov. Cuomo said the publicity was “priceless” and “brought reporters from as far away as the United Kingdom and Taiwan.”

Reporters are paid by their respective countries to come watch this NerdFest.

I doubt that tourists will come to New York because of this picture of Mayor Bloomberg and Cuomo.

New York taxpayers should demand a refund for this political grandstanding.

The only thing that was “priceless” about this event is the picture of these two. I think I will have it framed.

Bloomberg is paddling the wrong way up the river. His multimillion-dollar donation to the Sierra Club is financing the lawyers who are trying every trick in their mean little book to sabotage the Adirondack Club and Resort, a project that could bring hundreds of jobs and a strong economy to the suffering village of Tupper Lake.

The project has been approved by the Adirondack Park Agency and has the full support of the community, but Bloomberg’s bucks are defeating the good people who simply want to make a decent living and not be forced to abandon the homes their grandparents built.

Shame on the Sierra Club and on Michael Bloomberg.

In regards to your pictorial surely there must be a cameo role for these two in the next “Dumb and Dumber” sequel, which starts filming in September.

This picture should have been headlined: “American Gothic: 2013.”
