The Who:
Dapper gentlemen in the front row included Waris Ahluwalia and Emil Wilbekin.
The What:
After fall’s bold, flower-inspired deconstructed looks, expectations were high for Herchcovitch’s spring/summer showing. He didn’t necessarily fail to meet them, but this collection was surprisingly subdued. Pinstripes opened the show and both Ikat and a zebra print later emerged as runway fixtures. Herchcovitch used strips of fabric to create tiered hemlines, and dresses with slim silhouettes hit at or below the knee. Jacket-like capes were attached to the back of a few looks, and most dresses were demure, with the exception of a sheer lace asymmetrical number.
The Highlight:
A mini dress in a splashy metallic purple fabric.
The Takeaway:
Very few looks screamed spring, but we’ll surely remember a few come that time of the year.
