Chase bank opens after Target security breach

JP Morgan Chase opened its doors on Sunday, after being plagued by a security breach announced ahead of the final weekend of holiday shopping.

The bank will open a third of its branches to help sort out account issues after hackers stole personal information from nearly 40 million Target customers in the last month.

As a result of the hack, 2 million people — about 10 percent of Chase’s customers — who shopped recently at Target had their accounts compromised in the major security.

As a security measure, Chase limited those customers debit cards to ATM withdrawals of just $100 per day and debit purchases of only $300.

The bank had pledged to help customers obtain new debit cards on Sunday so they can shop without any restrictions and avoid having their personal data stolen.
