Lady Gaga poked some fun at herself on “Saturday Night Live,” performing her 2011 hit “Born this Way” as a “cover” of Madonna’s 1989 “Express Yourself—” and so admitting to what critics have called the close similarities between the two songs.
The self-satirizing happened during a parody commercial for a compilation of regrettable — or, as cast member Taran Killam called them, “stank butt” — star-on-star cover songs.
“That actually sounded pretty good, but was it a cover?” asked Killam, who played the dred-locked Counting Crows frontman in the skit. “Ah,” he adds. “Who cares!”
