Rouhani accompanied to UN by Jewish politician

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani used Twitter to boast of his hobnobbing with world leaders and the media elite Wednesday — as well as with the only Jew in his country’s parliament.

“Iranian Jewish MP Moreh Sadegh present in Rouhani’s morning session,” he tweeted.

Sadegh, a 49-year-old doctor and a member of parliament since 2008, is known for his anti-Zionist views.

Rouhani’s predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, brought him to New York for his annual rant at the UN General Assembly against “the brutalities of the Zionist regime.”

Israeli media reported last week that Rouhani tried to arrange a meeting during his New York stay with leaders of the Iranian-American Jewish community, but were rebuffed because it would send the wrong signal.
