Weapons suspect unmasked

A repeat felon with designs on robbing drug dealers was busted with heavy weapons and a wacky collection of disguises in a Brooklyn apartment Wednesday, according to Brooklyn federal court papers.

In addition to an AK-47, a handgun, pellet gun and ammunition, Michael Orthodox, 28, was found with creepy black masks, visors with glued-in fake hair and replica police badges, officials said.

A US Marshals unit burst into the apartment on 52nd Street and chased Orthodox out a back door before he was handcuffed nearby and hauled away.

When he was pinched with the trove of getups and firearms, Orthodox, whose rap sheet lists a slew of robbery charges, had a warrant out for his arrest for allegedly skipping out on a sentencing.

A source said he had planned to shake down drug dealers while possibly posing as law enforcement.

Orthodox pleaded not guilty Thursday in Brooklyn federal court to felony gun-possession charges. He faces heavy time as a repeat felon.

Officials said he was arrested in the apartment along with an alleged partner in crime, Francis Whitte.

Orthodox — who had a handgun in his waistband when law enforcement caught up with him — was sentenced in 2008 to 37 months in prison on a gun rap, then released into a drug-rehab program, during which time he was allegedly caught using cocaine.

He was awaiting sentencing on that probation violation when he was busted Wednesday.
