Karl does Dallas

Fashion’s majestic Karl Lagerfeld is dustin’ off his 10-gallon hat, pullin’ on his cowboy boots and heading to Dallas — land of longhorns and sequined shoulder pads — to host Chanel’s 2013/14 “Métiers d’Art” runway show on Dec. 10.

He’ll also premiere his 30-minute film “The Return,” starring Geraldine Chaplin as Coco Chanel, in the Lone Star State. Lagerfeld credits Dallas-based department store Neiman Marcus with embracing Coco when she returned to haute couture in the ’50s, after the closing of her atelier during WWII.

“One should not forget that America relaunched Chanel,” Lagerfeld recently told a crowd at Lincoln Center during a talk with Jessica Chastain, explaining the focus of his new movie. “When Chanel reopened — because of her past, I don’t know — the French hated [her].”

Maybe it had something to do with allegations — which she denied — of her work for Nazi intelligence officers? Je ne sais pas!
