Watch out, cronut: S’monut debuts

First came the cronut, then the legion of knockoffs: the crumbnut, the doughssant and so on. Now the Village’s Macaron Parlour is trying out yet another sweet smashup: the s’monut, the love child of a s’more and a doughnut.

The treat has been described as looking like a grade-school science-fair volcano, with a molten core of marshmallowy lava flowing out. It’s also filled with chocolate ganache and topped with graham cracker crumbles, to fully simulate the three main ingredients of a s’more (chocolate + marshmallow + graham cracker, in case you forgot).

The $3 s’monut is a little cakier than your average donut and only available on weekends, a limited supply that could lead to the kind of demand that made the cronut the hit of the summer, when fans lined up for hours outside Dominique Ansel Bakery in hopes of getting one of the sweet treats.

Olivia Wellington, 26, told The Daily Mail that: “It tastes as good as it sounds, but make sure you share this treat around. It’s so sweet, you only need one bite to be satisfied.”

This is far from the first strange food mashup for the year-old Macaron Parlour: It also offers a cream cheese and candied bacon treat, and this fall released a Cheetos macaron, something The Post’s Michael Kaplan called “an unholy combination that only sounds like a good idea if you’ve been smoking a bong all night.”
