Giants Blitz: Defense leads the way

HERO

The Giants’ entire defense, led by defensive end Justin Tuck, safety Antrel Rolle and linebacker Jon Beason, shut down Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, who finished with 28 rushing yards on 13 attempts.

UNSUNG HERO

Giants running back Peyton Hillis was signed off the street last Tuesday. Though his numbers were not spectacular (36 yards on 18 carries), he contributed significantly with a rushing TD that essentially put the game away and had five receptions for 45 yards.

ZERO

Josh Freeman was a complete mess in his debut with the Vikings, completing 20-of-53 passes for 190 yards, no TDs, 1 INT and a 40.6 rating. Freeman, who was signed last week, is the third starting quarterback in Minnesota’s six games. But still, he was as ineffective with the Vikings as he was in Tampa Bay.

KEY STAT

0 Interceptions thrown by Eli Manning, after he threw 15 in the first six games of the season.

QUOTE OF THE NIGHT
