Hip Hop Awards tops twitter scores

“The Walking Dead” may have drawn a monster audience of nearly 14 million viewers on Sunday, but that didn’t make it the most tweeted about show last week.

That honor went to the 2013 “BET Hip Hop Awards,” which, according to Nielsen’s Twitter TV ratings for the week of Oct. 14, produced 2.6 million tweets on Oct. 15 (the awards show drew 3.7 million viewers).

The second episode of “The Walking Dead” Season Four took the No. 2 spot with 528,000 tweets, down from the prior Sunday’s premiere that drove 1.2 million Twitter mentions.

Also provoking a large amount of social media chatter was the O-M-G inducing “Scandal” (ABC) at 284,000 tweets while BET’s hit “Real Husbands of Hollywood” was just behind with 239,000 tweets. “American Horror Story: Coven” (FX) generated 184,000 mentions.

Rounding out the top 10 included the Monday and Tuesday editions of “The Voice” (154,000 and 55,000 tweets, respectively), MTV’s “Catfish: The TV Show” (81,000 tweets) and ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars” (51,000 tweets).

Showtime’s “Homeland” also cracked the list with 14,000 tweets for a much-talked-about episode that featured a shocking plot twist (see Tuesday’s Starr Report for more on the “Homeland” kerfuffle).
