New Dell laptop smells like cat pee

This computer should be spelled with a capital PU.

People who bought Dell’s new Latitude 6430u ultrabook say their new laptop smells like cat pee.

And they’ve taken to a forum on Dell’s Web site to vent about the yucky aroma, which apparently emanates from the keyboard.

“So a few weeks ago I got a new Latitude 6430u for work. The machine is great, but it smells as if it was assembled near a tomcats litter box. It is truly awful! It seems to be coming from the keyboard. Anybody got any advice on removing the smell?” asked poster three west.

“Same experience. I thought for sure one of my cats sprayed it, but there was something faulty with it so I had it replaced. The next one had the same exact issue. It’s embarrassing taking it to clients because it smells so bad,” added hotecha.

Dell techie Harish M. replied with advice he said would clear the air.

“Remove the keyboard and try to clean it with a soft cloth. Also use a can of compressed air to clean the Keyboard area. Please follow the instructions from the manual to remove the keyboard,” he advised on the forum.

But users said the fix didn’t do the trick.

“No amount of compressed air is going to help the awful stench coming from the keyboard,” three west replied.

The company said in a statement Wednesday that “the odor was not related to biological contamination nor did it present a health hazard.”

Dell also didn’t identify the cause of the stink but said it was replacing the smelly laptops and had changed its manufacturing process to solve the smelly problem.
