NORWALK SHOW KICKS BOAT

THE fall season may mean putting your boat away, but it is also a good time to shop for a new one and there are two shows coming to the metro area that may put you into a spending spree.

The first kicks off this week in Norwalk, Conn., with the 32nd Norwalk International In-Water Boat Show. This is a great show offering over 750 boats of all different types and shapes.

Some of the hot, new boats at the show include the Back Cove 33 and the Grady-White Canyon 336.

The new Grady-White is a center console that not only has comfort, but great fishing features, as well – the 336 is available with twin Yamaha F250 four-stroke engines or the newly available F350 four-stroke.

Seakeeper can help you avoid sea sickness with a device known as a Control Moment Gyro that helps to eliminate boat roll. Go to http://www.seakeeper.com to learn more.

Viking will introduce its Sport 54 Flybridge, a beautiful boat for entertaining and cruising that includes both Volvo Penta and Caterpillar power packages.

Of course there are the big-ticket items. The Queen of the Show is the Azimut 68, with an overall length of 70 feet, 10 inches, and a price tag of $2.6 million. Other large yachts include the Carver 65 Marquis with an overall length of 69-11 and Viking Sport Cruiser 67MY with an overall length of 67-1.

There is a lot of shopping to be done and you can find everything from electronics to deck shoes. You also can learn how to fly fish and win some great prizes, including a trip to the British Virgin Islands.

There are the Cast-Away seminars that teach you fly fishing to bass fishing along with casting.

The show will take place at the Norwalk Cove Marina from Thursday through Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. daily. For more info, directions and the seminar and event schedules, go to http://www.BoatShowNorwalk.com or call (212) 984-7007.

The following week, you can hook up with the Liberty Boat Show, Sept. 27-30 at the Liberty Landing Marina in Liberty State Park, Jersey City. For more info, call (201) 200-9800, or visit http://www.libertyboatshow.com.
