Boy, 9, killed on way to temple

A driver with a suspended license and $5,000 in outstanding DMV fines past struck and killed a 9-year-old Brooklyn boy on his way to temple this morning, police said.

Novella Bilkerdyk, 59, hit 9-year-old Joshua Ganzfried at Bedford Ave. and Wallabout St. in Williamsburg at 7:56 a.m., cops said.

Bilkerdyk was being held at the 90th precinct for the suspended license, but she has not been charged in the child’s death. Its is unclear how the accident occurred, although sources said the boy may have run in front of her 2005 Honda Accord.

Records show Bilderdyk has had her license suspended in the past over insurance lapses and that she owes a balance over $5,000 to the motor vehicle registry.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw Bilkerdyk make a left onto Bedford Ave. and skid out of control. She struck the little boy, who flew over the hood and was dragged under the car for a few feet before it stopped.

The driver got out and started screaming hysterically, “A Jewish boy! A Jewish boy!” said one person who saw the horrific accident.

The boy, whose last name is Ganzfried, was taken to Brooklyn Hospital.

Ganzfried, who is Hasidic, was on his way to Congregation Kehilas Yakov Pupa on Bedford Ave. when he was killed, witnesses said.

“My mother’s never been in trouble before,” said a man who identified himself as her son at Bilderdyks home in the Lefferts Gardens section of Brooklyn. “She’s not a criminal. It was just a really bad accident.
