My Corolla was only car flipped in Red Sox win

The Red Sox’s eighth championship cost one fan his car.

Chad Duncan went to bed Wednesday night in his Kenmore Square apartment a joyous fan and woke up the next morning with his vehicle missing, according to the Boston Globe.

In place of his black Toyota Corolla were shards of glass. His car was rolled over and destroyed by rowdy Red Sox fans. It was caught on video and captured with photographs.

“I don’t know why they chose my car,” he told the paper Thursday. “I guess it’s pretty light.”

Originally, Duncan figured his car was towed – there are parking restrictions around Fenway Park – but quickly feared the worst when he noticed other car windows were smashed. He eventually found his car in a tow lot in Jamaica Plain.

“As soon as I told him my license plate number, he asked, ‘Did anyone tell you what happened?” Duncan said. “He started chuckling just a bit.”

It was no laughing matter to Duncan, who leased the car last year. It was totaled. The financial analyst told the Globe he is out roughly $2,500: $1,000 for his insurance deductible and $1,500 in new lease fees. Duncan returned home and watched the video online. Unfortunately, he came up with no clues as to why his car was chosen.

“It’s very confusing,” he said. “The only car flipped in the whole city.”

The Oregon native moved to Boston three years ago and has grown attached to the Red Sox. This doesn’t change his feelings about the team, but he will make different arrangements next October.

“I definitely won’t be parking there during a playoff game again,” he said.
