ROTTWEILER ATTACKS BROOKLYN GIRL, 5

A Rottweiler mauled a 5-year-old girl and dragged her by the leg for a block in Brooklyn yesterday as her horrified aunt looked on helplessly, witnesses and police said.

Little Kadidia Traore screamed when the dog charged her as she was walking along East 94th Street near Church Avenue in Brownsville at about 2:30 p.m.

“We were just walking along the street – the dog came out of nowhere,” Kadidia’s aunt, Fatoumate Konte, said last night.

The girl’s shaken mom, Haoua Traore, said, “It’s a sad day for us – her birthday is only two days away.”

Kadidia was saved by local residents who heard her screams as she was dragged along East 94th Street to Willmohr Avenue.

“We thought someone was being robbed,” said Dean Francis, 33, who lives on Willmohr.

“We ran down the street and saw about five guys [pulling] the dog off.”

Errol Russell, 62, said he jumped from his car to help the men drag the dog away.

“We stick together – we don’t put up with this type of stuff,” he said.

Kadidia, who lives nearby on Kings Highway, was released from Brookdale Hospital last night after doctors stitched up wounds to her right leg.

She put on a brave face, telling her father she still likes puppies.

But, she quickly added, “I don’t like those big dogs.”

Police said the Rottweiler was a stray.

It was taken to a shelter in Brooklyn run by the New York City Animal Care and Control.

Police will compare Kadidia’s bite marks with the dog’s teeth before they decide its fate.
