JUSTICE
(one star)
Indie yawner.
Running time: 82 minutes. Not rated (mild obscenity). At the Two Boots Pioneer, Avenue A and East Third Street.
THE only point of inter est in “Justice” comes early on, when an actress named Marisa Ryan flashes her panties while sitting provocatively on a park bench.
Otherwise, Evan Oppenheimer’s indie drama is strictly a yawner.
A New York comic-book artist (Erik Palladino of “ER”), bummed out by
9/11, creates a superhero character named Justice, based on real-life hunk Tre (Michael Jai White).
The comic’s a hit, but Tre has no idea he’s become a star. Then a Village Voice reporter comes snooping around and . . .
There’s probably a good movie hidden here, but director/writer Oppenheimer isn’t able to find it.
The dialogue’s wooden, the direction’s lackluster and Palladino’s almost as charmless as Ed Burns.
Then there’s the annoying character played by Daphne Rubin-Vega (of “Rent”) – one of those obnoxious types you see screaming into cellphones as they recklessly barge down the street.
Slow down, girl; you’ll live longer.
