SHE SWIGS AND MISSUS

The wife of former Yankee great Don Mattingly was arrested for drunken and disorderly conduct after a dust-up at the estranged couple’s Indiana farm, authorities said yesterday.

A “screaming,” “unsteady” and “abusive” Kim Mattingly, 45, wound up in handcuffs on Saturday night after she confronted the popular former first baseman-turned-coach over a missing telephone, according to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department.

The couple filed for divorce in November.

Last month, Mattingly opted out of his new job with the Los Angeles Dodgers – now managed by Joe Torre – as the team’s hitting coach, citing family problems, and accepted a lesser role.

According to the arrest report, cops were called to the Mattingly horse farm twice in the early hours of Saturday for a family dispute.

Police said Kim Mattingly accused her husband of taking her phone, “and she wanted it back.”

Don Mattingly denied having the phone. That’s when police asked Kim to leave, saying she needed to “go through her lawyer for further dealings with Mr. Mattingly.”

Police later made a return trip to the house, where they found Kim in the passenger seat of a car and told her to get out.

A spokeswoman for the sheriff’s office said Saturday was the first time local cops had been called to the home.

Neither of the Mattinglys could be reached for comment yesterday.

Family friends in nearby Evansville, where the couple grew up, said marital woes had taken their toll on Kim.

“To us, they’re just regular folks – not celebrities – and she’s been going through a hard time for awhile,” said a woman who did not want to be identified.

“But both she and Donnie are dedicated to those boys of theirs,” added the woman, who said she has known the couple “for decades.”

The Mattinglys have three sons – Taylor, 22, Preston, 20, and Jordon, 16.
