Newlyweds hit shutterbug with $100K suit for ‘ruined photos’

This bride and groom’s special day was anything but picture perfect, and now they’re suing their Brooklyn wedding photographer, saying he botched the job.

Newlyweds James and Violeta Breheny slapped shutterbug Barnaby Draper with a $108,300 lawsuit for ruining their extravagant nuptials last fall.

The couple hired Draper and a videographer assistant for $8,300 for the Oct. 27, 2012 event, which was held at the same Long Island mansion where Consuelo Vanderbilt tied the knot with the Duke of Marlborough in 1895, according to the Manhattan civil suit.

But at 11 p.m. the night before the $100,000 affair Draper, who works out of a studio on Jay Street in DUMBO, called to say that he would not shoot the bride getting ready, even though it was included in the contract, the suit says.

The betrothed had to spend their wedding eve searching for the documents and convincing the photographer to show up at the pre-planned time.

Draper eventually agreed, but then he left the reception three hours early, missed the maid of honor’s speech, misspelled the bride’s name and only delivered 2 ½ hours of a promised 15 hours of video footage, according to the court papers.

The photographer was almost 11 months late getting the couple their digital images and never handed over the promised album, slide show or prints, the suit says.

The only explanation Draper gave for the disaster was that his dog died two months after the wedding and a family member had a mental breakdown at Thanksgiving.

The couple, who recently relocated to Virginia, want a full refund plus $100,000 in punitive damages.

Draper’s attorney said, “This is a misunderstanding that will be resolved.”
