Post reporter to Baldwin: Fight me for charity

The offer stands – but the Bloviator is still chicken.

The Post reporter assaulted by a raging Alec Baldwin appeared on “Good Day New York” Monday morning and again laid out his challenge to meet the bullying former “30 Rock” star in a charity bout.

“Let’s handle this like men, you challenged me to a street fight, now here I am, it’s for a great cause, [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation]. Let’s do a charity boxing match and give the money to GLAAD,” said Kevin Fasick, a former pro boxer who trained with the legendary heavyweight champ Smokin’ Joe Frazier.

But, he said, the hot-tempered loudmouth wants no part of him.

“Alec Baldwin’s managers or friend reached out to us, something to the effect [that] we respect that Kevin Fasick is an excellent boxer but we don’t choose to collaborate with The New York Post at this time,” Fasick told hosts Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly.

The Post scribe recounted how the suspended MSNBC host confronted him outside Baldwin’s East Village pad Friday morning as he tried to question him about his win in a stalking case and use of an anti-gay slur in a tirade aimed at a Post photographer the day before.

“The verdict on his trial was just the day before. He also allegedly made some homophobic comments. These are two perfectly legitimate news stories. I was out there to seek comment from him,” said Fasick.

“He comes out of the building, I follow him down the street. I say ‘Mr. Baldwin, do you have any comment?’ He shoves me into – there was a garbage truck near there, and then he shoved me into the back of a parked vehicle,” he said.

“So, you only asked him if he had any comment, you didn’t bait him or anything?” Scotto asked

“Absolutely not, I was seeking comment on a news story,” Fasick replied, detailing how Baldwin then knocked his phone from his hand and threatened him.

“He got right in my face and said ‘Step back pal, you don’t want to get hurt, do ya? [I asked] Are you threatening me? Are you serious? And then he said ‘You’re a fat, middle aged guy’ and I said ‘What are you?’ And he made it very clear that he wanted to fight me, right then and there,” Fasick said.

Host Greg Kelly, chuckling, replied, “For what it’s worth, you’re not fat.”

Scotto wondered, “Do you think he was just being a bully, or do you think that he was close to losing it?”

Fasick replied, “I think he wanted to fight. I think he’s got some serious anger issues. He clearly wanted to fight me right then and there. I’m a professional reporter, I don’t get into street fights.”

Fasick also admitted that covering the combustible Baldwin is not at the top of his list of favorite assignments.

“Mr. Baldwin seems to think that we enjoy showing up at his place. I can speak for a lot of reporters. It’s not a desired assignment because we know what we’re dealing with,” he said.
