‘Calvin and Hobbes’ finally available on e-readers

Bill Watterson’s “Calvin and Hobbes,” easily one of the most beloved comic strips of all time, is finally available in e-book format.

Although the entirety of the strip is not yet available – only three collected editions are currently for sale: “The Indispensable Calvin and Hobbes,” “The Authoritative Calvin and Hobbes” and “The Essential Calvin and Hobbes” – it’s the first time the tales of the precocious six-year-old and anthropomorphic tiger best friend have been available to read on e-readers, reports The Verge.

The three collections go for $12.99 each and are currently available on Amazon’s Kindle store, Apple’s iBooks store and Barnes & Noble’s Nook store. Previously, the comic strip could only be accessed on mobile devices via apps like GoComics.

Watterson’s revered celebration of imagination and adventure ran from in newspapers worldwide from 1985 to 1995. At the height of its popularity it was featured in 2,400 newspapers.
