National Zoo’s baby panda takes adorable first steps

Cute alert!

The National Zoo’s panda cub is now officially a toddler, a new video shows.

The still-unnamed giant panda cub took her first few steps Saturday and Sunday – exhausting treks that left the little gal ready for a nap.

The 10-pound cub, born in August, stood on her hind legs and staggered a few feet before plunking back down on her backside, the video released Tuesday shows.

Her mom, Mei Xiang, is also encouraging her to get a move on, nudging her around their enclosure at the DC zoo in Rock Creek National Park.

“On Saturday she took the cub out of the den and put her on the floor of the larger indoor enclosure while she got a drink,” zookeepers said on the zoo’s website.

The zoo, meanwhile, is still holding a contest to name the baby bear, and will accept suggestions until Friday.
