NYU student avoids jail after admitting to swiping Apple gadgets

He’s “totally” not going to jail.

An NYU student copped to swiping thousands of dollars worth of Apple computers from his classmates in a Manhattan court Thursday in exchange for a sweetheart no-jail deal.

Christian Windley, 21, of Texas, admitted he went on a five-day robbery spree last December snatching MacBooks in study halls and dorm rooms throughout the campus.

The thieving student stole at at least $6,000 worth of Apple products including the laptops and and an iPhone, according to the criminal complaint, as well as a calculator, wallet, cash, credit cards and a passport, authorities said. When cops confronted him about the booty he said, “I totally stole that.”

The wayward student confessed in court to multiple counts of grand larceny and possession of cocaine. He also paid full restitution.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Larry Stephen vacated the felonies and let Windley plea to a noncriminal violation of disorderly conduct for which he’ll serve no jail time.

“The sentence is time served,” said Stephen. Windley, dressed in a white shirt, black tie and thick-rimmed glasses, refused to comment as he left the courthouse.

He swooped in and plucked the loot when his unsuspecting victims left their valuables unattended, police said.

He struck at least six times before cops busted him on campus at Hayden Hall. When they frisked him, they allegedly discovered another student’s NYU ID, a forged Connecticut driver’s license, stolen credit cards – and a stash of cocaine.

“I was working on my MacBook and I got up for a second, and it was gone when I came back,” said a 20-year-old student, who asked not be identified, shortly after he was robbed.
