MTA wants NYers to ‘Get Outta Town’

The MTA wants New Yorkers to “Get Outta Town.”

In a new campaign announced yesterday by Gov. Cuomo and the MTA, city residents are being urged to go upstate or to Long Island to visit wineries, museums, and other tourist spots this fall and winter.

The “Get Outta Town” campaign includes state ads on the subway shuttle between Grand Central and Times Square and 6,400 posters promoting fall and winter tourism on platforms, subways and buses.

There are also video ads at more than 100 subway entrances with digital panels, and on electronic boards in Grand Central and Penn Station. The campaign will expand to a partnership with the Port Authority, with state tourism ads being placed in airports.

The MTA will be boosted by the state’s advertising dollars — as well as any fares from riders heading north and east.
