Hillis likely to start again with Jacobs doubtful

Running back Brandon Jacobs (hamstring) and defensive tackle Shaun Rogers (knee) didn’t participate in the portion of Giants practice open to the media on Friday.

Jacobs missed his third straight practice, having not participated all week. He declined interview requests afterwards. He has been officially listed as doubtful for Sunday’s NFC East matchup with the Eagles. Rogers and defensive back Jayron Hosley were also listed as doubtful.

“That’s one of those decisions that’s going to have to be made by a collective: Upstairs, myself and the training staff. That’s just really one of those things we’ll have to wait to see,’’ Rogers said. “I love to play the game, so whatever I can do to play the game we’re going to try to do. We’ll leave the rest up to them.’’

Newcomer Peyton Hillis and Michael Cox will share carries, with Tom Coughlin saying the split will be based less on the hot hand and more on strategy. Hillis could be in line for his second straight start, with the rookie Cox still gaining the Giants’ full trust.
