EHarmony ‘high-end’ counseling inspired by Ben Stiller movie

It’s life imitating art.

Dating site eHarmony is putting together a personal-counselor offering for its high earners — not because its clients requested it, but due to an unexpected marketing opportunity.

Ben Stiller’s new movie, “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty,” features an eHarmony counselor. But eHarmony didn’t really provide such a feature — until now.

“The service is designed to minimize the rejection and anxiety that comes with online dating,” Grant Langston, eHarmony’s vice president of content and customer experience, told MarketWatch. So starting this week eHarmony will begin offering high-end concierge dating services for $5,000.

After learning of its inclusion in the movie, eHarmony surveyed 15,000 members who earn more than $250,000 a year, and it was clear there was huge demand for such a perk, says Langston.
