Stephen Baldwin pays $100,000 in overdue taxes

That’s another $100,000 down and $243,068 to go.

“Celebrity Apprentice” star Stephen Baldwin, 47, handed over a certified check for a hundred grand to the state Tax Department Friday in the second part of an installment agreement for unpaid taxes, interest and penalties for returns from 2008 through 2010.

Although he lives in Rockland County, Baldwin told authorities that he didn’t realize he had to file in those years based on “some really bad suggestions and advice” from lawyers and accountants.

His total tab of $400,000 was reduced to $348,068 by a previous payment.

“This was never about not wanting to do the right thing, never about not wanting or willing to pay what I owe,” Baldwin told reporters outside Rockland County Court.

He was arrested in December 2012 following an investigation by state tax agents and later arraigned on one count of repeated failure to file personal income tax returns, a class E felony.

He pleaded guilty in March.

If Baldwin makes full restitution within a year, he’ll get a conditional discharge without jail time, prosecutors said.
