Ed Burns sells crime drama pilot to TNT

Ed Burns, who will star in TNT’s upcoming series “Mob City,” has sold a crime drama pilot to the cable network.

Burns will direct and star in “Public Morals,” which will be set in 1967 New York, in the city’s Public Morals Division.

He’ll play NYPD cop Terry Muldoon, who “knows the line between the good guys and the bad guys is thin” while he “deals with the dark underbelly of the vice world,” according to TNT.

Steven Spielberg will be one of the pilot’s executive producers, along with Burns, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey and Aaron Lubin.

Burns, whose father worked for the NYPD, co-created the short-lived NBC sitcom “The Fighting Fitzgeralds,” which aired back in 2001.

“Mob City,” set in 1940s LA, premieres Dec. 4 on TNT.
