A 3-year-old girl was in critical condition in a Brooklyn hospital last night after she ran away from her mother and was struck by a hit-and-run driver, police said.
The tot, whose name was not immediately released, was struck at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Avenue P and Ocean Parkway in Midwood when she ran off from her mother and into the path of a van, police said.
After the accident, the driver of the 1986 GMC van ran off on foot. Police were looking for the driver today.
The girl was taken to Lutheran Hospital with a fractured skull.
