CARTIER AIMS TO SHINE AT AOL’S NEW HQ

Get ready to chalk up another 18-carat tenant for the AOL Time Warner Center.

Cartier is in negotiations to lease an 11,500 square foot store at what will become the main 59th Street entrance for the 2.1 million square foot Columbus Circle project, sources tell The Post.

When it opens in December 2003, the tony jeweler and the 14,300 square foot Hugo Boss store will flank an 85-foot-wide hallway. The ceiling will rise to a sun drenched 150 foot high atrium filled with brightly colored art.

Nicole Miller and Bulgari are also in discussions, sources say.

Stephen Ross of Related Cos. and his partner, Ken Himmel of Palladium Co. are also the developers of such modern public retail spaces as CityPlace in West Palm Beach and have been carefully crafting the tenant mix.

A spokesperson for the developers declined comment.

Other retail tenants signed into the 290,000 square feet of stores include Cole Haan, which is taking 5,000 square feet, and J. Crew, which is taking more than 13,000 square feet on the second and third levels.
