SCARY MOMENTS IN WILD FINALE

TH RACE – Olana’s Jet broke sharply and hustled to lead. She stretched out to lengthy advantage on far turn and then while shortening strides and begging to be caught, she was still comfortably in front at wire. The final time was 1:15.06, .02 slower than two-year-old maiden claimers ran in third race. Next time, look for stranger before backing any horse that finished behind winner.

TH RACE – Baseball rated off pace and started making run toward lead on far turn. When turning for home, Baseball was hit by whip of Red Weasel but still had momentum and was able to go by Red Weasel and pacesetting Devil’s Ransom for victory.

TH RACE – Salem Willow broke in air and trailed early. He started to move up on far turn but then was caught in traffic. He was racing inside at top of stretch but was able to get momentum while angling outside and catch favored Laser Con for victory.

TH RACE – Race was marred by two incidents, but luckily no one was seriously injured. At start, April Morning stumbled and his nose hit ground hard. Jose Bermudez lost his balance on April Morning and was thrown to ground. At top of stretch, C.C. Lopez on Rock Queen started to angle inside for clear running lane when Lezcano on Halfway to Heaven also went inside. It caused chain reaction with Halfway to Heaven, forcing Rock Queen inside and hitting rail, Counting Visions and Bacara. Edmund Feurtado on Bacara was thrown to ground while Counting Visions checked severely and had to be eased. Lopez and Rock Queen were lucky not to go over rail. The horses and jockeys involved were not injured severely.
